A comprehensive air treatment system for the renovation of the Scientific and Clinical Centre for Precision and Regenerative Medicine, Kazan.

3 August 2020

We successfully created a comprehensive air treatment system during the renovation of the building, which is why all TWH series central air conditioners were divided into components as much as possible, while larger  sections, such as steam distribution chambers, had to be assembled on site.

Due to very limited resources, all systems are equipped with heat recovery with complete separation of air flows. Interestingly, the heat recovery system is designed to operate not only in winter but also in summer, thereby reducing the power consumption of the refrigeration unit.

The source of cooling is a chiller with a built-in TW-V series pump group. The coolant is a 35% propylene glycol solution.

In operating rooms, intensive care units and intensive care wards, temperature and humidity are monitored year-round.

Without exception, all systems are equipped with air disinfection, and the terminal elements of the system are SFD air distributors with HEPA filters of classes H13 and H14.

Returning to the issue of reconstruction, thanks to close cooperation with the design organisation, we were once again able to install a large-area laminar field in the hybrid operating theatre without using recirculation.

Special attention was paid to air flows. Air flows were modelled for the intensive care and resuscitation rooms, and the SFD air distributors and OPFA exhaust separators are positioned almost perfectly, resulting in air speeds of around 0.15 m/s in the working areas.

Overall, the project fully complies with the requirements of SanPiN 2.1.3.2630-10 and R NP “AVOK” 7.8–2019, as well as DIN 1946 part 4, ONORM H 6020, and VDI 2083.

On June 20, the facility was visited by Rustam Minnikhanov, President of Tatarstan.
